Maseru is the capital of Lesotho, home to the iconic Basotho Hat (Mokorotlo) monument - a distinctive conical straw hat that has become the national symbol of the Mountain Kingdom. This traditional headwear, inspired by the shape of Mount Qiloane, represents Basotho cultural identity and pride. The monument celebrates Lesotho's unique heritage as Africa's only country entirely above 1,000 meters, where the Mokorotlo remains an everyday symbol of national identity.
