Gdańsk Neptune Fountain

Gdańsk is a historic port city on Poland's Baltic coast, crowned by the iconic Fontanna Neptuna (Neptune Fountain) in the heart of Long Market Square. Erected in 1633, the bronze statue of the Roman sea god wielding his trident has stood as the symbol of Gdańsk for nearly four centuries. Legend holds that Neptune once struck his trident to shatter gold coins tossed into the fountain by wealthy merchants — creating the city's famous Goldwasser liqueur flecked with gold leaf.
